Chungnam Laver Fisheries Cooperative with 32 members and 6 associate members

The 1481 Korean geography Dongguk Yeoji Seungnam records Seocheon (Biyin-hyeon, at the Geum River estuary) as one of the three principal gim (laver) producing regions, alongside Hadong in Dongnae-hyeon (Nakdong River estuary) and Gwangyang in Gwangyang-hyeon (Seomjin River estuary). This underscores the long heritage of Seocheon.
